Be careful what you do...

Learned a hard lesson today. I did something foolish about a week ago that ended up costing me my job. I had just made it past the one year mark (big milestone for me, which apparently will never be beat), had insurance in place to pay for the baby (if we could push August back a few months...years, that would be great), heck, I was all worried cause I didnt know what to do with my newly available 401k. Turns out, none of that mattered. I made a mistake and I readily admitted it, but as it was put to me "some mistakes are bigger than other ones." This happened to be a big one.
Let me give you some free advice...dont ever write or say anything that you dont want someone to read/see or hear. I won't go into details, but be careful in your actions. Its so very easy to say/write something (especially in the digital age) that is misinterpreted. How many times have you been in a chat and someone typed something and you werent sure if they were kidding or not? Sometimes, things have that certain tone and you wonder what they mean. Usually, face to face, body language and other contextual clues let you know if you are on the same page with someone else. Online...different ballgame. Treat everything you write and say as if everyone in your company (and all your customers) will read and hear it. It'll make things easier on you if you use that "mental filter" at all times.
Also, if you know of any job openings anywhere, especially computer related job openings...feel free to post a comment.
Good night and good luck!
