The more things change...

...the more they stay the same. Don't remember who said it, but they were apparently the smartest person ever. Lets see, last post was May 23, 2006. Today is August 4, 2006. Two months and change. Still on the job market, even though I do have a couple of promising leads. Still awaiting the baby, even though she could conceivably be here any day now. Jessica is still having a hard time with the pregnancy (earlier this week she was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes). So basically, my theory on years is still working. Even numbered years suck royally.
For my argument I present: 2002 - Michael Houser passed. 2003 - gainfully employed all year. 2004 - WSP took hiatus; I was basically unemployed all year. 2005 - gainfully employed all year; found out we were expecting. 2006 - lost job/insurance/any hope of a stress free pregnancy.
Using this system, 2007 should rock!
On a side note, 2006 has seen me add some new interests. I got World Cup fever while on St. George Island. Even though the US lost (2006 - even numbered year...), it was still entertaining to watch a sport that I knew basically nothing about.
That also lead me to my new love for professional soccer. I'm currently deciding between Liverpool and Blackburn in the English Premier League and I have a surrogate interest in the Norwich City Canaries, currently of the Football League Championship (whatever the 2nd level is called right now), but we're all hoping for promotion back into the Premiership for next season!
Also, my current avatar should fill you in on another renewed interest of mine. I've also been collecting the pint glasses it comes in. So far I've got George Killian's Irish Red, Sam Adams Summer Ale and a nice Fox & Hound house glass.
And now, before this thing gets to 5000 words, I must add that George McConnell has left WSP and Jimmy Herring will be replacing him for the start of the Fall tour (September 14th...?). I was always a big GMAC supporter, so I am saddened to see him go. I certainly dont pretend to know all the details of his departure, but I'm sure that Mr. Herring with his Dead, ARU and Allman Brothers experience should be able to take up the slack.
