We got Grizzlied!
Wednesday, May 23, 2007
There's getting screwed, there's getting boned and then there is what happened to the Memphis Grizzlies last night at the NBA Draft Lottery (which will henceforth be known as "getting Grizzlied"). With the worst record from the 2006-2007 season and a 25% chance of landing the #1 pick, the ping-pong balls came up huge...-ly disappointing and bounced us all the way into the #4 pick, the guaranteed lowest pick we could have gotten. Portland, meanwhile, with a 5.3% chance of landing the top spot, of course won it all. I guess I can't hold the TrailBlazers directly responsible, but dang those ping-pong balls! We just needed a top 2 pick to turn things around. We can go ahead and write off next season, when the Memphis Tigers will probably win more games than the Grizzlies, after we probably end up taking Yi Jianlian according to nbadraft.net, Time magazine's "the next Yao Ming." No, these are not tears of joy! Hopefully, the 2008-09 draft will be a good one, since we'll probably have front row seats...again!
Hey, I think this qualifies as the first bad thing that's happened to me in an odd numbered year. Hmm...
Also, if anyone was wondering where my new "1 post per day minimum" posts were...I was (and probably still am) sick.
