How the mighty have fallen...

Tennessee's stay atop the college basketball's polls turned out to be an incredibly short one. The Vols lasted for 3 days atop the perch, and were unceremoniously vanquished from their first ever #1 ranking by none other than in-state rival Vanderbilt. After the dust settled on the foul-laden affair, it was the Commodores 72 and the Vols 69. After the new rankings are released, I would assume that Memphis will probably move back into #1 on the AP side, while either the Tigers or the North Carolina Tar Heels will be the new #1 on the ESPN\USA Today poll.
This is where I would normally insert some sort of snarky comment about things going around and coming around, but in all honestly, this is a great year for the state of Tennessee in the basketball college basketball world. I honestly think, barring injury or conference tournament fallouts, that Memphis and Tennessee will both be #1 seeds in March and that Vandy could be ready for a surprisingly deep run into the big dance.
