We don't want to become caricatures of ourselves, or worse yet, a nostalgia act

The title of this post is taken verbatim from a quote direct from the lips of one Trey Anastasio, made on May 25, 2004. Who is Trey Anastasio, you ask? The lead singer of the band Phish. The band that broke up in 2004 after the Coventry show. The band that is currently going to play March 6, 7 and 8, 2009 at the Hampton Colliseum in Virginia and will "announce more dates in early 2009."

I love it when Phish fans tell me how Widespread Panic is too old to be touring and should've quit a few years ago. They are quick to point out that Phish quit at the "top of their game." And went out on their terms, as opposed to getting too old, or not being able to move tickets.

Don't take this the wrong way. As a fan of both acts, I can honestly say I'm happy to see Phish take the stage again. I just wanted to know how the members of Phish were able to not age over the last 4 years, so that they were still not "too old" to be touring?
