#MusicMonday - 1.11.10 - Sufjan Stevens

Monday, January 11, 2010

I haven't posted in a while, dear reader, and I do apologize for that, but let me attempt at making amends with the following post.

When I was younger, I might have used such excuses as the holiday season, my thirty second birthday or the removal of my wisdom teeth, to explain my absence from posting. I know now, as do you, that I am merely a lazy man, and since I have a lot of ground to cover, let me get right to the task at hand.

Remember way back, when I told you about a new musical entity that had overtaken my playlists? That musical entity is one, Sufjan Stevens. I can't remember where I first heard him, but pretty much since that time, I have listened to his music, even if only a song or two, everyday. He is listed as being able to play the guitar, bass guitar, banjo, sitar, piano and many other instruments, but, in my opinion, may be better as a songwriter or singer, than any of those. In all honesty, there is too much that I would like to tell you about him, that can be comfortably contained, in these confines, so I won't even try.

First up is "Chicago"

Next we have "Jacksonville"

From the BQE: Movement III: Linear Tableau With Intersecting Surprise

And finally, with Osso, Run Rabbit Run - Year Of The Dog

I cannot tell you how much Sufjan Stevens' music moves me at this point in my life and I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps the blending of multiple genres of music into one package, I honestly don't know. Pick up any (no ALL) of his music here.
