Grizzlies

I wanted to have a neat-o image to put up with this post. I started thinking about a Grizzlies logo with the word PWNED! across it. I thought about some historical situation and replacing whoever's head was on there with a Grizzly-man head, but none of it felt right.

The 13-33 Grizzlies, proud owners of the "dead last," position in the Southwest division, the third worst team in the Western conference and the 4th worst team in the league, decided that they would finally trade Pau Gasol today. Staring up from 19.5 games back of their division leader, the Grizz shipped Pau Gasol and a 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft to the LA Lakers, for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, the corpse formally known as Aaron McKie, the draft rights to none other than Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010.

So, we traded perennial second banana Pau Gasol to a fellow Western conference team in exchange for a former #1 (and current known bust) in Kwame Brown, rookie Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie (who last played in the NBA in 2005, signed on as an assistant coach for the 76ers in 2007 and was intriguingly signed by the Lakers on Friday, February 1st 2008 to be a part of the trade), Marc Gasol (lets hope 2nd banana-ism doesn't run in the family) and 1st round picks in 2008 and 2010.

So, lets see where that puts us. Close to dead last in the regular season standings, which will maybe score us a top 4 pick in the 2008 draft (with a stellar drafting history) and will put us exactly 0% closer to the postseason. So, lets put the over/under on the remaining years the Grizzlies are in Memphis at 4.5. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2012 Las Vegas Grizzlies!

I agree Jessica. I know its Matt's blog but COME ON! Of course it's pretty amazing that he selected to talk about the Grizzlies and not about the Super Bowl count down again.

Enough of that - I'm sure he's making at least 3 of his readers happy.
