#MusicMonday - 10.19.09 - Lucinda Williams

Monday, October 19, 2009

We're building momentum here, as we begin the second consecutive week of female, country (or at least alt-country) singers. This week's #MusicMonday turns the calendar back one year, almost to the day, October 14, 2008, the release of Lucinda Williams' ninth studio album "Little Honey."

Lucinda Williams is currently my favorite artist, not named Ryan Adams, which, in and of itself is a whole other post. This new found knowledge should key you in on the fact that I could expound on "Little Honey," (a tremendous album, by the way) for hours, but I'll spare you all that for a Monday morning and get to the focal point of today's post. "Jailhouse Tears," was recorded with Elvis Costello for the album. I've never been a fan of the "other" Elvis, but in this context, I'd say he's made truly appreciate what he can do lyrically. In fact, I'm of the opinion that Elvis Costello should not be allowed to play music, unless it is with Lucinda Williams (in case you were wondering, she is still allowed to play without him).

This is obviously not the "official" version, but the "static image in front of the album version of the song" version.

Youtube link in case I whiffed on that embedding.
