I think I have unnecessarily shortchanged the Flaming Lips, with a metaphorical wave of my hand and a promise of "you'll like next week even better."

I do think that the artist that I unveil to you next week has the potential to be legendary, but, being so very new to the game, in their current iteration, they can't really be allowed to overshadow the Flaming Lips body of work, which is approaching thirty years.

In light of this error on my part, allow me to make restitution, in some small way, by directing your attention to The Soft Bulletin. Hopefully, unlike me, this is just a refresher course for you, seeing as how it was released in 1999. If I had been exposed to it eleven years ago, who knows how different and more expanded my musical horizon would be today.

Anywho, enough nostalgia and wishful thinking, onto the music.

"Race for the Prize" may not be my favorite, but its still a great song. Check it out for yourself.



And no, I have not forgotten about the, aforementioned "mind blowing," musical act that was originally scheduled to appear in this space at this time. I'll be letting that musical meal simmer in it's own awesome sauce for another week, at which time, it'll be ready for digesting.
