#MusicMonday - 3.22.10 - Carrie Rodriguez

Monday, March 22, 2010

I haven't posted since when?!? March 8th, eh? And I even borked that one but no one noticed. If you just went to look, it's too late. I already fixed it and you'll never know what it was...MUHWHAHAHAH.

Moving right along, I perusing the lineup for the music portion of SXSW, which ended yesterday, and found another one of my new favorite acts, Carrie Rodriguez. I sure would've loved to have seen her in Austin, but maybe she'll "head north" this Summer and I can check her out in person.

Born into a musical family in 1978, Carrie is probably best known for her fiddle playing, although she is an excellent tenor guitar player, singer and songwriter. Carrie has three albums out now, with one on the way this coming April, but today, we'll be hearing a live performance of Chip Taylor and her, as well as a live version of a track from her 2006 release "Seven Angels on a Bicycle."

Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez - Sweet Tequila Blues

This is obviously not the one from the album, but this live version of my favorite CR track "St. Peter's," is really nice.

You can order any of her studio albums, including her upcoming one, at her website. If you want to find more of her live music, check out her archive.org page. If you are not already familar with archive.org, then I don't think we can be friends anymore. kthxbai.
